For Those Not Totally Into Wine – Introducing A Simple, Satisfying Sangria.

By Administrator, 18 June, 2010, No Comment

Face it, one of the common misperceptions of Gourmet Cooking and Eating is the concept that there is some sort of a pre-arranged, agreed upon, organized uniformity in taste and preference with regards to what “WE” all enjoy eating and drinking.

But in reality, that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. The term “Gourmet” makes reference to the quality, class, freshness, healthiness and over-all supremacy of the food and drink itself, as well as the ingredients that go into making the food, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with the specific menu items at all.

Therefore, some of us, as well as some of our friend, family members, neighbors and associates may absolutely love gourmet food, but not be particularly enamored with one or two items that some of us might mistakenly take for granted as being common “flavor that’s favored.”

So, for those not totally into wine, here’s a wonderfully delightful, smooth, sweet and succulently savory little drink delight for the upcoming celebrations and events of the warmer weather months, a Simple, Satisfying Sangria.

(Serves 12)
Ingredients:
1 bottle boutique quality Chardonnay

1 bottle boutique quality Pinot Noir

1 bottle boutique quality Cabernet

3 shot glasses of fresh lime juice

2 shot glasses of fresh lemon juice

6 shots of Bacardi rum

12 ripe strawberries chopped finely

2 ripe peaches chopped finely

2 ripe bananas chopped finely

2 ripe red apples chopped finely

2 oranges chopped finely

1 cantaloupe chopped finely

½ bunch seedless gapes chopped finely

½ cup mixed berries chopped finely

½ ripe Mango chopped finely

Now simply add all of your ingredients together and chill in the refrigerator overnight, if possible, so the fruit flavors fully soaks into the wine and run.

When it time to serve, pour into a punch bowl with some ice cubes and enjoy!

Be sure to save any fruit left at the bottom of the bowl for a delicious dessert topped off with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dollop of whipped cream!
